Pariya's 2011 level 4 ESOL class
Hello everybody. Thank you for reading my email, and for following the link to this blog.
My name is William Lucas. I used to work with Pariya, and I taught English for many years. But for the last few years, I've been working at the Learning Centre. One of you, Suraiya, has already been to my room to see me. Let me introduce myself, and the Learning Centre, to the rest of you.
The Learning Centre helps students from the whole Polytechnic with their studies. We show people how to study, how to do their assignments, even how to handle numbers. We don't usually help ESOL students study English, because that is what your teachers do!
However, I would like to contribute to your class. The best way that I can do that is through my blog, which is a kind of diary. It is a tool that you can use to communicate with me, and to search through for the online English resources that I've located.
In April I will move to Uto near Kumamoto in Kyushu, Japan with my wife and baby. I shall continue to work for Otago Polytechnic from there. Some of you come from that country. In fact, there is someone in your class who has the same surname as my wife! In Japan I shall work part time online. One of the things I could do is to help your class, but I will only do that if you need me.
Let me know if you receive this email by sending a quick reply. I would be happy to start an ongoing conversation with you. Good luck to you this year from me.
